Field & Stream Magazine

Jodi Stemler Consulting supports the Heroes of Conservation program for Field & Stream Magazine serving as the magazine’s connection to the fish and wildlife conservation community as well as Federal and State government decision-makers. Efforts include securing VIP speakers, judges and attendees at the 2007 and 2008 Gala in New York City and the 2009-2014 Galas in Washington, DC. In addition, Jodi helps identify critical conservation issues, and appropriate speakers for a panel discussion at the Heroes of Conservation Roundtable during the 2008-2014 SHOT Shows.

Heroes of Conservation Gala

Strategic Conservation Manager

2007-2014

Every fall, six extraordinary volunteer conservationists are honored by Field & Stream Magazine; one is ultimately chosen as that year’s Hero of Conservation. Jodi has worked with Field & Stream on this program for all but the first year helping them connect with potential finalists, working to secure VIP guests and speakers at the event, and providing finalists with a unique and personalized Washington, DC experience. Through Jodi’s efforts, every finalist has the opportunity to meet with at least one of their Members of Congress.

Hero for a Day

2013-2014

As a spin-off from the Field & Stream Heroes of Conservation program, Hero for a Day projects complete important conservation projects with an eager group of volunteers. Jodi helps connect Field & Stream with conservation organizations that have on-the-ground conservation projects so that they can be featured as Hero for a Day project. These projects are filmed and the videos run on the Hero for a Day project site, allowing the groups to be recognized for the hard work that they are doing and giving them a quality marketing and communications tool to share with their members.

2014 Hero for a Day projects Jodi helped connect included – Utah State Wildlife Area (Mule Deer Foundation), Montana Sage Grouse Fence Marking (Sage Grouse Initiative), New Jersey Wetland Clean up (U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service), and Restoring a California Wetland (U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance).

Jodi helped connect Field & Stream to a number of projects in 2013 as well – here’s a summary video of those projects.

SHOT Show Conservation Roundtable

2008-2014

To support Field & Stream’s Heroes of Conservation program, Jodi Stemler Consulting has coordinated a Conservation Roundtable discussion at every SHOT (Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade) Show since 2008. Each year, Jodi works with Field & Stream’s editorial staff to select a conservation topic and coordinates a panel of experts to discuss and debate the issue. The topics have ranged from deer management (2014) to wilderness (2013) to wolves (2011), and much more. Each panel has a lively discussion on the topic, providing the outdoor industry and outdoor writers at SHOT Show the opportunity to learn about timely conservation topics.
